Welcome to my World!!!
the set has a cap, sweater and booties. I chose beige and yellow. It is ideal for a new born baby
During the 2020 Corona pandemic lockdown I have had time to pursue old forgotten hobbies like knitting. It's such a soothing, relaxing and satisfying pass time.
I still remember
that I was introduced to knitting by my favourite teacher Mrs Sanober Khan when I was in class 5. I managed to make a pink baby sweater with a lot of help from my mum and aunt.
Life got so busy and I knitted a few
things for my children and their cousins when they were kids.
Recently I got into the mood and with the help of Google and my own alterations I managed to make this baby set.
There are a pair of booties, a cap and a raglan sweater.
I have hand written the patterns and you can follow them row by row.
Try it. You will be so
amazed at the result if you are a beginner fan of knitting.
starting the booty
Garter means all stitches knit. Stocking means 1 row knit and 1 row purl,
Turn booty wrong side out.
Stitch carefully matching each row to the corresponding one. Use an appropriate needle for wool stitching.
Towards the end of booty
Finish stitching neatly.
Cut off extra wool tails. Turn over the booty to the right side out.Now knit the second booty to match.
ready to be stitched
The cute pair of booties
Carefully thread the thin ribbon around the ankle area and tie it into a bow. Isn't this lovely?
Making the Cap
Starting the cap
Tip: you can make a grid of numbers on a piece of paper and the go on ticking the row that you finish. This makes my life easier and I don't forget which row I have reached.
Top of cap
Turn the cap the right side out.
Base of cap
You are now ready to design the crown.
Front of cap
You may make a tiny bow with the ribbon and stitch it on the front of the cap. Then it is matching with the booties.
Cap is almost done
Stitch the cap wrong side out. Be careful at the top. Cut off extra wool tails.
side of cap
You may fold the border upwards to make the cap shorter if you like.
Making the Back of the Sweater
The Back of sweater
Half way through. Starting the shaping of the raglan style.
This is the biggest part of the sweater and the hardest. Just follow the pattern carefully.
Making the Sleeves of the Sweater
Starting the sleeve
The border is ready.
Half way through
You have to increase carefully to get the sleeve shape
Now knit the second sleeve in the same way. You can see the raglan shaping.
Making the Right Front of the Sweater
Right front border
Notice the side border on which the buttons will be attached
Complete right front
The raglan shape is on the sleeve side and the neck band is on the other side.
Making the Left Front of the Sweater
Left Front of sweater
Turn the sweater back up and iron lightly using a damp muslin cloth.
All parts of sweater
Sweater is ready
Iron lightly the wrong side of the sweater to flatten the seams.
Completed baby sweater
TO MAKE UP
Flatten all the pieces of the sweater.
Turn them all the wrong side up.
carefully, matching each row to corresponding row, join the sleeves to the back and the front pieces stitching with a big needle.
Join the front pieces to the back taking care to stitch the neck band
Stitch the sleeves.
Using a slightly damp muslin cloth and a warm iron, flatten the seams.
Turn the sweater the right side up and sew on the buttons corresponding to the four button holes.
The baby sweater is ready.
whole baby set is now complete.
Try knitting it. Enjoy this hobby during the Corona lock down. Stay home. Be safe. Good Luck. God Bless.
